2.1.1 Stationary boom high point
Stationary Boom High Point ( SBHP ) rescues describe the technique of using the rescue boom or other crane-capable EWP , or a mobile slewing crane that was in use on site , to position a rope anchor point directly over a casualty . Once installed , the ropes and anchor point can be used to perform a rope-based rescue using a variety of individual or teambased rescue archetypes , including a groundbased rescue in some circumstances .
The image below shows the simplest and fastest way to perform a SBHP rescue .
A main and belay line have been fixed to secure craning points on the underside of the rescue boom . The rope bags have been carried above the casualty and then dropped into position .
The two fixed ropes can now be used to access the tree or to perform an individual pickoff rescue . In some circumstances , the casualty may even be able to self-rescue .
