A variation of the twin-line offset rope rescue system can be used for extracting a casualty from a branch end or managing lateral movement .
In this system , both the main and belay line are connected to anchors as high in the tree as the structure will safely permit . The rescuer attaches one line directly to the casualty , and redirects the other through a pulley fixed to the branch end where the casualty is situated .
The ground crew can then lift , lower or move the casualty laterally by adjusting the tension in each line .
No additional belay line is required for this rescue system .
