2.4.3 Running anchors ( skate block )
The image below shows a skate block running anchor setup using minimal equipment .
The skate block system shown is rigged as a dual main or twin-tension rope system . A more common alternative would be to have a single tensioned skate block line and a separate top belay .
The red and orange lines attached to the tandem pulley are designed to be used as a main and belay line for the rescue . One of these could be replaced with a set of fours if needed to lift the casualty up to the pulley .
The image shows both lines terminating at an appropriate belay device . In most cases , it would be preferable to redirect the line at a butt block and set up a haul field to allow the skate block to be both lifted and lowered under load .
