Individual pick-off rescue
The capacity of a rescue climber to perform an individual pick-off style rescue is critical when responding to aerial tree accidents .
Whilst ground-managed lift and lowering systems are preferred and should be considered before embarking on an individual pick-off rescue , the time and effort required to install suitable rescue ropes through efficient pulleys above the casualty may be prohibitive . Where the casualty is in a tall tree or a remote location the rescue team may find that available rope lengths are not sufficient for their preferred choice of rescue system .
A rescue climber with a good rope angle will usually be able to quickly lift and evacuate a casualty even from challenging locations .
