Lift process
1 .
2 .
The load is stabilised using cribbing and wedges . Ratchet straps can be used to secure secondary loads that may be leaning or laying over the primary load .
Alternative extrication methods are explored .
Rescue PLANS A , B and C are developed and a lift plan is adopted .
3 .
The lifting airbag or airbags are introduced under the trunk , as close as possible to the casualty . This achieves the largest possible lift distance .
Ensure that at least 75 % of the airbag is under the load , and that as little ‘ wasted space ’ as possible is between the airbag and the load .
The load can now be lifted away from the casualty . Lift slowly , and remember to pack as you jack , continually introducing cribbing and adjusting stabilisation so that if the lifting bag fails , the load will not settle or roll onto the casualty .
